Questions

The things people ask

If what you need is not here, write to us. One person reads everything and you will get a real answer within two working days.

Ordering and delivery

Can I get flowers delivered today?

No, and we would rather say so plainly than take the order and disappoint you. Every bouquet is bought at market on the morning it goes out, which is why they look the way they do and why we need a day. Order before 5pm and it goes out on the next delivery day.

Where do you deliver?

We hand-deliver in Epsom. Check any postcode on the delivery page and it tells you the fee and the first date we could get there. Outside the area you can collect from the studio, and The Petal Post reaches the rest of the country by post.

What happens if nobody is in?

Tell us where to leave them and we will: a porch, a shed, a neighbour, a gate code. With no instruction and no answer at the door we take them back to the studio, keep them in water, and contact you to arrange another day.

Can I choose a delivery time?

Not a slot, no. We deliver through the working day on a planned route. If the flowers are for a particular moment, say so in the order and we will do what we can with the route.

The flowers themselves

Will it look exactly like the photograph?

The size, the palette and the feeling, yes. The individual stems, not always. We buy what is good at the market that morning rather than ordering a fixed recipe weeks ahead, which is the whole point. We never substitute down in value, and if something you specifically asked for is not available we tell you rather than quietly swapping it.

How long will they last?

Most of what we send gives you a good week, and often two with a little work. Re-cut the stems, strip anything below the waterline and change the water every couple of days. There is a whole page on it.

Do you use floral foam?

Never, in anything. It is a single-use plastic that does not break down and it goes into landfill after one arrangement. Everything we send, including the wrap and the twine, can go on the compost.

I have a cat. Is there anything I should tell you?

Yes, and thank you for asking. Lilies are seriously poisonous to cats, even the pollen. Tell us in the order and we will leave them out and use something else in the same colour.

Paying

Is it safe to pay on this site?

Your card details never touch our server. The payment form belongs to Stripe and your card goes straight to them. We see that a payment succeeded, the amount and the last four digits, which is all we need to match it to an order.

Is VAT included?

Hana Blossom is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged and none appears on your receipt. The price you see is the price you pay.

When am I charged?

When you place the order, and you see the full total including delivery before you commit. Nothing is added afterwards.

Subscriptions

How do I cancel a subscription?

From your account, on the same screen as everything else. One click to open it, one to confirm, and we do not ask you why. You can skip a single delivery or pause for a while instead. The deadline for all three is 48 hours before a delivery, and your account shows you the exact date and time.

Am I tied in for a minimum number of deliveries?

No. It runs until you stop it, and stopping it costs nothing. Gift subscriptions are the exception in the other direction: they are paid up front for a set number of months and they do not renew, so nobody gets a surprise charge.

If something is wrong

They arrived in poor condition. What now?

Photograph them where they are and email us within two days with your order reference. We will replace them or refund you, whichever you would rather. We do not ask you to send flowers back and we do not ask you to prove anything.

Can I return flowers I have changed my mind about?

Not once they are made. The Consumer Contracts Regulations exclude goods that deteriorate rapidly, and cut flowers are the clearest example there is, so the usual fourteen-day right does not apply. Contact us before we buy the stems, which in practice means at least a full working day before delivery, and we will cancel and refund in full.

Weddings, events and stationery

How far ahead should we book a wedding?

Most couples come to us nine to twelve months out. We take a limited number of weddings a year so the ones we take get our full attention, and popular dates go first.

Do you work with wedding planners?

Yes, on trade terms, with a named contact and proofs that come back when we said they would. Flowers and paper come from the same studio on one timeline, which is the thing a separate stationer cannot offer you.
